My Friend Forrest
"Dear old Forrest died in my lap this evening, September 18, 2013. Hr was 16 1/2 years old, and his old kidneys finally gave out. He held on for as long as he could, lifting his head to look at me every few minutes, his breath gradually slowing. I rescued Forrest from TLAC almost 6 years ago, at 10+ years of age. He was an owner surrender, turned in because he was "too old." Forrest didn't think he was too old at all. He spent his first year with us trying to starve himself to death in grief, waiting for his dad to come get him, but he never did. Forrest finally resigned himself to living with us, gave himself an attitude adjustment, and turned into my lap cat. He would crawl into my lap at every opportunity, head-butting me under my chin until I rubbed back with my chin and kissed his head. I'm going to miss that so much. Phillip and I adopted Forrest this evening before he passed, so he would have a family to leave behind, I don't know why that seemed important, but it did. Goodbye, dear Forrest. We loved you very much, and will never forget you." - your foster and now adoptive Mom and Dad, Carol and Phillip

In Memory of My Friend Charlie
Rest in Peace, Sweet Charlie. 2006 (estimated birth year) to June 22, 2011. You are an amazing and courageous spirit that lived in the body of a beautiful Siamese cat for a short time. I was blessed with your company and recipient of your enormous love for almost a year before a wonderful woman from New York came to Texas on April 23, 2010 to take you home. We are both grateful for the time we had with you and that you were our friend.

Kelsey Lukingbeal
KELSEY SANDERS LUKINGBEAL of New York City. May 28, 1988 to April 15, 2010. The world has lost one of its most precious individuals in the loss of Kelsey on Thursday. Kelsey truly blazed her own trail and followed the song in her heart wherever it took her. She graduated from Elkins High School in Fort Bend County in 2006. Her pioneer spirit in the last few years led her to Washington D.C. where she attended George Washington University and interned for Congressman Hare of Illinois in his congressional office. Most significantly, Kelsey lived the last four months of her life in New York City and planned to attend Seton Hall in the fall.Kelsey will be forever remembered for love of Siamese cats, her crazy sense of humor, her charismatic personality, and her unique style.Kelsey was a 7th generation Texan and was a member of the Daughter's of the Republic of Texas.Mourning her loss but celebrating the 21 years that we shared with her are her mother, Patti Livingston, father, Steve Lukingbeal, older sister and brother, Katherine and Patrick Lukingbeal, and grandfather, Mark Lukingbeal. Kelsey had numerous cousins and aunts and uncles in Ohio and Texas.

Magic
Pam & Gary Gerritsen want us all to remember Magic. Magic spent a long and happy life with Pam & Gary as one of their three beautiful and pampered house ferals. He was an active and curious fellow that gave both Pam and Gary years of pleasure. His two partners remain enjoying a life of fresh air and sunshine on their own screened porch and personal bedroom! The Gerritsen's have made a generous contribution to ASR in Magic's memory to be used in our veterinary care fun. They have since adopted two kitties from our program.
