She loves dogs, people, and making a house her own

Yoli was adopted by a family with two dogs on July 5, 2020. She will stay with her new family as long as everyone gets along! We expect that this adoption will work out wonderfully, but there is a chance that maybe the dogs and Yoli won't get along, in which case Yoli may once again - in about one month or so - be in search of a forever home.

Yoli was born to a feral mama in the wilder parts of Georgetown. At the time, no one was doing TNR in the area so Yoli also had a litter of kittens. After her kittens were weaned (Tiger was adopted, Amelia is currently listed for adoption), Yoli was caught and socialized.

It took a big investment in time to see Yoli become fully domesticated, befriending her foster humans and their three dogs. Nowadays, if she drove a car it would have the COEXIST bumper sticker on it – and it would actually mean something!

Yoli’s wild side, necessary for self-defense, dominated at first, but after she observed other indoor kitties getting love and affection, she decided she wanted that too! Though it took a little time for her to leave her defenses behind and accept affection without "retaliation," compared to other feral cats Yoli was relatively quick to warm up to humans.
She's smart and a fast learner, so it didn't take long for her to catch on, first about how to receive and give affection, then how to practice good manners and polite social skills (though she still likes to test the limits!). In the end she passed her socialization with flying colors!

This bold, affectionately friendly, "alpha" personality kitty then also befriended the foster’s three dogs (well, ok, it's more fair to say that she "tamed" one of the dogs while the other two dogs tolerate her presence; Yoli is frustrated when they don't return her affections).

As for other cats, Yoli no longer gets along with her daughter Amelia – the generation gap is real! In fact, she doesn't get along with any of the other five cats in the house who were all once her feral "buddies" out in the wild. Maybe there are scores to settle, or maybe Yoli is just being territorial and not wanting to share the "good fortune" she's found with her newly tamed humans and dogs.

When you say Yoli, you say Affection with a capital A. She loves being the center of attention, but also loves observing quietly from her perch atop the cat tree. One of her foster’s often quotes the line from the musical
Cats: "She establishes control with a regular patrol." Your home will be in good hands with Yoli in a supporting role!

More about Yoli: Good with dogs and people, but unknown toward domesticated cats she doesn't already know.
