Grace Plays Fetch!
Every now and then I’ll hear about a cat that “retrieves”. I’d always wanted to meet one and it’s every bit as delightful as I’d hoped! She places her toy at my feet, then sits and patiently waits for me to figure out what I’m supposed to do. Check out the second video in her profile if you think you can bear so much cuteness. Her first video shows her talking to her babies, but she actually does most of her communicating with those big, soulful blue eyes. I’m starting to think she’s telepathically influencing me, because I can always understand exactly what she wants and am helpless to deny her. Grace is a quiet, contemplative feline who is more of a gentle intellectual than a wild and crazy kitten. Her communications are subtle. She knows when it’s bedtime and waits by the bedroom door for me if I’m late. When she’s hungry, she sits by her food bowl and gives me the big sad-eyes. What’s a foster mama to do? I can tell that she will bond strongly to some lucky person. When she first came to me, she was almost immediately sleeping next to me on the bed and following me from room to room just to be near. She had her babies two weeks later, and woke me up when she went into labor to comfort her and see her through it. I was so honored that she allowed me to welcome her three beautiful newborns into the world with her. As you can see from her pictures and video, Grace loves her babies. She talks to them and plays with them often, and she’s also a very responsible mother! I was fortunate enough to observe her actively potty training them, it was so sweet! Took them to the litter box, showed them how to cover – I couldn’t believe it! Of course her own litterbox manners are perfect. When the kittens are sleeping, Grace likes to fill her “Me” time with her favorite shows. She is particularly fond of “100s of Birds for Cats,” “Cat Adventure”, and the aptly-named “Catsitter Video.” You can see her at her leisure in front of the telly in one of the pictures below.
