Sophie has had a long journey with ASR but her story will have a a happy ending and maybe even with you :) Sophie was surrendered to ASR by a family who adopted Sophie as a kitten but could no longer take care of Sophie because of personal reasons and because of Sophie’s aggressive behavior. Upon meeting Sophie her foster quickly realized that Sophie was not aggressive at all, she was just terrified of humans because she has been abused. It was evident that all she needed was time and patience to be able to trust and heal from her abuse. She would cower and growl any time her foster parents came into the cat room and would not let anyone come within ten feet of her. It was heart breaking to see because her eyes said that she wanted companionship but her fear was not letting her.

 

So her foster decided to take things at her pace. Slowly she got more and more comfortable with humans and after about a month she stopped growling completely, one month later she came up to her foster for first time, two weeks later she came out of the cat room and began exploring her new foster home, two weeks later she was able to be given treats by hand, two weeks later she let me pet her. And now she spends all her time in the main living area with her foster family and lets you give her lots of pets when it’s treat time and when you get home. She loves to rub against your legs when you get home to greet you also. She has done such a long way and deserves a loving home after all that she has been through. 

 

She would do best in a quiet home with no small children with a human best friend who could be patient with her as she adjusts to and explores her new environment and roommates.
